Self-Portrait…Overexposed

So I was doing my makeup and getting ready for work and had about 10 minutes to spare. I decided to pick up the camera and take a picture of myself. Little did I know that using the flash while standing in front of a bright window on a sunny day would create an awesomely over-exposed photograph that didn’t look too bad.

If only our skin and eyes were this perfect in real life huh? lol

Makeup Artist: Sasha Marie

I have been a photographer for about 5 years now and the only thing remotely as rewarding as a happy client is having the pleasure to work with a great team! I’ve been working with MUA Sasha Marie for almost a year now.

She is a NYC based professional makeup artist. Her resume includes red carpet event makeup, weddings, proms, editorial shoots, beauty, and even private sessions.

To call her only talented would be an understatement. Sasha brings bright ideas, and she’s always willing to go the extra mile. Her attention to detail is something to aspire to, and her ambition is contagious. Words can’t describe how grateful I am to have her on my team!

SFX MUA: Tracy Ann – Injury Make Up

SFX MUA: Tracy Ann - Injury Make Up

I had the awesome chance to work with Special Effects Makeup Artist Tracy Ann on an Injury inspired look. The detailing on the inside of the wound was amazing. At some points it reflected as if there were puss shining from the gash on the model’s left cheek.

It was very different for me to shoot & retouch a photo that didn’t involve making someone beautiful or perfect. I definitely enjoyed the challenge & can’t wait to show you all more of our work together!

Baking Chronicles – Chocolate Chip Cookies

Photo1

The beauty about baking things from scratch is that you wind up with a lot of ingredients in your cabinet that can be used over and over again at a moments notice! The night time craving was chocolate chip cookies, but I didn’t want to go to the store to buy the pillsbury pack lol. That being said I took a look on the food network site, chose a cookie recipe that matched the ingredients I already had at home, and WAHLA! Chocolate Chip cookies from Scratch! :)

I used this recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/my-big-fat-chocolate-chip-cookies-recipe/index.html

Instead of using chocolate chips, which I didn’t have, I used 5 Hershey’s Chocolate Bars (8 oz), and chopped them up to chip sizes. The cookies came out HUGE, but they were delicious & so soft!

Here’s how it went down:

MacBar – Restaurant Review

macbar

They say big things come in small packages…well this little place is just that! The Mac Bar, located in Soho, is a teeny little restaurant that specializes in all things Macaroni & Cheese. An all American classic dish spinned about 12 different ways. From the classic mac n cheese, to margarita mac n cheese, to primavera, cheeseburger mac, mac lobsta’, and even four cheese mac, this mac bar has it all.

Today I went with a friend to try it out. We ordered the “Primavera” and the “Mac ‘shroom.” We ordered the sizes Small platter, which cost $7.50 each, and it turned out to be more than enough for us. They were both delicious! Both vegetarian friendly! And both very filling!

If you’re ever in the lower Manhattan area, I definitely recommend stopping by this little place. I promise, as far as the food is concerned, you won’t regret it!! <3

Now here is a picture of our happiness:

Hair Color Change – Pro’s & Con’s

picture028

Changed the blonde locks to brunette! While having blonde hair was fun, it was exhausting.

Benefits of (dyed) blonde hair:

- Beautiful

- Flirty

- Brings out the eyes

- Fun to add high lights & stuff

Cons of (dyed) blonde hair:

- Expensive

- High maintenance care

- Can’t wash too often so it won’t dry out

- Damages hair if you use bleach

- Roots show in a week & within 3 look awful

- Requires lots of treatments

- Sometimes looks really dry from damage

On the other hand there’s the easy, beautiful, shiny brown hair.

I chose to go Mahogany Brown and leave on chunk streak on the left side of my head as the same color I had blonde (couldn’t let go of the fun stuff).

picture061Benefits of (dyed) Brown hair:

- Easy Maintenance

- Can get away for a long time with roots

- Shiny

- Looks healthier

- Sexy & mysterious!

Cons of (dyed) Brown hair:

- Very hard to go back to lighter hair

- After about 6 weeks the color gets dull & you need to re-dye or use a treatment

I go blonde at least once a year though so we’ll see what’s next for my hair. Cut, dye, shave, streak, etc! Who Knows!

Happy New Year!!
